2020 Ford Fusion
Many have been eagerly awaiting the 2020 model of the Ford Fusion, and it's finally here. For a model that has had only minor changes since the 2013 model, the 2020 model marks the end of the line for Ford's midsize sedan. While not especially flashy or stylish, the 2020 model is pleasant and dependable.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2020 Ford Fusion comes in four different trim levels, with two of them offering both front-wheel drive and an all-wheel-drive option. The S, which is the standard model, has its fair share of safety features but is sparsely equipped otherwise. For a slight price increase, the SE will get you many upgrades worth the extra money. This includes upgrades to the engine, seats, climate control, wheels, and more. The SE can also be optioned with the all-wheel drive mentioned earlier.
The SEL trim is another upgrade adding heated seats, an improved sound system, and auto-start. Finally, the Titanium trim comes standard with all-wheel drive, although front-wheel drive is an option. Additionally, there's the option for a plug-in hybrid. The hybrid can drive up to 26 miles on electricity alone. Titanium also upgrades you to leather interior, cooled and heated front seats, an improved speaker system, a heated steering wheel, and adaptive cruise control.
Engine (Power)
The engine for the base model of the 2020 Fusion is a 2.5L I-4 engine. This engine puts out 175 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm and 175 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. The engine for the SE is a 1.5L I-4 engine, which delivers 181 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 175 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm. The Titanium gives the option to upgrade to a 2.0L I-4 engine with 245 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 275 pound-feet of torque at 3,000 rpm.
Performance
EPA fuel mileage for the fusion's base model is 21 miles per gallon in the city and up to 31 mpg on the highway. The improved 1.5-L turbo four has improved mileage, with an average of 23 miles per gallon in the city and 34 on the highway.
Interior
Sporting a 16-inch steering wheel, cloth seat trim, driver lumbar support, as well as a first row LCD monitor, even the base model of the 2020 Fusion has a desirable interior. The upgrade to SE will bring dual-zone automatic front air conditioning as well as SiriusXM radio. The SEL comes with heated front seats, as well as heated mirrors and leatherette seat trim. Finally, the Titanium trim has a first-row glass sunroof, leather seat trim, and a navigation system.
Safety Features
The fusion has proven to be incredible in regard to passenger safety. Scoring incredibly well in both the NHTSA Frontal Crash Test and the IIHS Frontal Offset Crash Test, it's easy to see why the Fusion is receiving praise. Safety features of the car include a wide variety of air bags to keep passengers safe, including front-impact, side-impact, overhead, and knee air bags. Ford's 2020 Fusion also comes standard with anti-lock brakes as well as a security system to detect unwanted intrusion.
