2021 Ford Bronco
With over 200 accessories to let you customize it and numerous tech updates in the current redesign, the 2021 Ford Bronco squarely fills its place in the SUV market. Simple but strong at the Base trim, the Bronco is a wise choice for drivers seeking an off-road-ready five-seater SUV full of exterior options and fancier, more specialized trim levels.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2021 Ford Bronco is available in seven trims: the Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, Wildtrak, and First Edition. The Base trim comes with 16-inch silver-painted wheels, removable doors, daytime running lamps, and molded in-color door handles. The Big Bend adds more style with 17-inch Carbonized Gray-painted aluminum wheels and grille, plus LED fog lamps. The Bronco Black Diamond is defined by its 17-inch black-painted steel wheels, rock rails, heavy-duty bash plates, and a heavy-duty modular front bumper.
On the Outer Banks, you'll find 18-inch black-painted machined-face aluminum wheels, LED head and taillamps, and body-colored exterior door handles, mirror caps, and fender flares. The Wildtrak super-off-roading trim comes with a modular Shadow Black-painted hardtop and unique graphics. The Badlands trim has 17-inch Carbonized Gray-painted machined-face aluminum wheels. The First Edition trim, along with extra features on the inside, adds a Safari bar.
Engine (Power)
The 2021 Ford Bronco is all-wheel drive, and drivers have two engines from which to choose. A turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four pumps out 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, whereas a twin-turbo 2.7-liter V-6 engine, with 330 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, serves as the alternative. You can choose from either a seven-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission with the higher engine option, while the inline-four uses a manual transmission.
Performance
As anyone would expect from a Ford, the 2021 Bronco is both powerful and stable, but accessible as well. It may be a dependable off-roader first, but newer or more highway-focused drivers should find its regular trims fun for daily use. On the higher end, models like the Badlands include a long range of switchable driving modes for terrain types like snow or sand dunes.
The Bronco offers up to 25/28 city/highway mpg, and it can tow up to 3,500 pounds with the V-6 engine. Passengers and drivers alike will appreciate the active suspension, smoothing out the shakes and bumps of cobble roads or old driveways.
Interior
If you love the outdoors, feel free to take off the Bronco's removable doors or roll down the available soft top. There are all sorts of ways to open up the Bronco's cabin as much or as little as you need. In an open or shut cabin, five adults will have no problems relaxing over a longer drive with manual adjustable six-way driver and four-way passenger seats upfront.
The Bronco equips Ford's SYNC 4 infotainment system to an 8.0 or 12.0-inch responsive touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A built-in navigation system and subscription-based Wi-Fi hot spot are also available. You will also get a 120-volt power outlet and automatic climate control standard.
Safety Features
Included systems and driver-assist features on the Bronco include rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. Higher models introduce other features standard or as options, such as adaptive cruise control and 360-degree camera coverage.
