Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Ford Fusion comes in five trims: S, SE, SEL, Titanium, and V-6 Sport, while the former Platinum trim was discontinued for the new model year. Feast your eyes on the Fusion's updated exterior styling, including a striking five-bar grille design with chrome finish, modern, signature LED lighting, and solar tinted glass. Move up to the SEL and get power-heated exterior mirrors with auto-dimming driver side and security approach lamps. Engine (Power)
For 2019, Ford added a newly available engine, bringing the Fusion's list to three EcoBoost motor options. The base 175-horsepower 1.5-liter I-4 earns 21 mpg in the city, and 31 mpg cruising the highway. Two turbo four-cylinder 2.0- and 2.7-liter engines kick out 181 and 245 horsepower respectively. The powerful 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 Sport delivers a whopping best-in-class horsepower of 325 ponies, making it one of the most powerful engines in the midsize sedan class.
Performance
The Fusion handles well on windy roads and delivers a smooth ride without the typical body roll you experience when cornering in some rivals. You'll appreciate standard conveniences like Ford's MyKey that helps new drivers develop good habits and a push-button start. There's a four-speaker stereo system and the user-friendly, voice-activated SYNC 3 interface in every Fusion trim level. Opt for the available 12-speaker Sony audio system, satellite and HD Radio, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The responsive optional 8-inch touchscreen is loaded with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and navigation. It delivers sharp graphics through its intuitive menu layouts.
Interior
The Fusion seats four adults, or up to five with a back seat full of kids. Both rows of the Fusion's seats are snug and supportive, with plenty of head and leg room. The higher trim levels offer an upscale feel without the luxury sticker price. Not many midsize cars compete with the Fusion's available cargo space. With this new Ford, you get an outstanding 16 cubic-foot trunk. That's enough room to haul whatever you need for an afternoon picnic at the park.
Safety Features
Because Ford included a slew of standard active safety features to the 2019 Fusion, it earned an impressive five-star rating from the NHTSA for its performance in their overall crash tests. Get a rearview camera, and new for the upcoming model year is Ford's Co-Pilot360.
