2020 Ford Edge
The 2020 Ford Edge is a midsize SUV that's plush, quiet, and significantly roomy. It has a tight, controlled presence on the road and drives like a sedan. The Ford Edge has a considerable amount of passenger and cargo space. It's worth mentioning that the Edge can be equipped at near-luxury levels, but also has an impressive list of standard features.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2020 Ford Edge is available in four trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST. The three lower trims come standard with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission with front-wheel drive. Exclusive to the ST is a turbocharged V6 engine. You can also put power to the ground through the optional all-wheel drive. All models of the Ford Edge ride on 18-inch wheels.
Engine (Power)
The 2020 Ford Edge is powered by a 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. This beefy engine puts out 250 horsepower at 5,500 rpm. The Edge ST has a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 that boasts 335 horsepower, also paired with an eight-speed transmission.
Performance
The four-cylinder turbocharged engine is capable of accelerating the Edge to highway speed, and it delivers a satisfying amount of thrust. From zero, the Ford Edge SUV attained 60 miles per hour in 7.5 seconds. It is gratifying that the steering, handling, and braking are so agreeable on the Edge, and the transmission shifts smoothly, with Sport mode increasing shift time.
Interior
Beginning with the SE, the 2020 Ford Edge is turned out with reclining rear seat backs, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a six-speaker sound system. Sync 3 infotainment with an 8-inch touch screen, dual USB ports, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, complete the interior features at the base level. The SEL moves you up with some premium touches, such as simulated leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a power-adjustable front passenger seat. There are considerable available options on the SEL, beginning with heated seats, a hands-free liftgate, navigation system, and an upgraded sound system. At this point, you can also add adaptive cruise control. As you move into the Titanium trim level, luxury items like noise-reducing front windows, leather upholstery, front sport seats, and ambient cabin lighting join the list. This level of luxury will give you a premium experience that will make driving a treat. The ST trim is the performance enthusiasts' level with its leather and suede-like seating and sport-themed interior configuration.
Safety Features
Adaptive Cruise Control keeps your car a set distance from the car in front and includes a stop-and-go function for heavy traffic. Evasive Steering Assist is a safety feature that helps the driver avoid an imminent front collision by adding necessary steering input to your emergency maneuver. Enhanced Active Park Assist actively steers the car into and out of perpendicular and parallel parking spots. The NHSTA rated the 2020 Ford Edge the highest safety rating available, five stars, while the IIHS gave it the top rating of Good in all categories tested.
