2022 Ford Super Duty

The entry-level Super Duty is the XL. It comes with 17-inch wheels, black-painted bumpers, and black plastic exterior trim elements. Step up to the XLT for heated exterior mirrors, chrome bumpers, a chrome grille, and 18-inch alloy wheels. You can also check out the Lariat, which adds power-folding tow mirrors. The King Ranch adds LED lighting in the bed and a remote tailgate release, and the upscale Platinum comes with LED headlights, 20-inch wheels, and body-colored bumpers and exterior mirrors. The top-level Limited Super Duty adds a moonroof.

The powertrain lineup for the Super Duty starts with a 6.2-liter gas V-8 that puts out 385 horsepower. It uses Ford's six-speed automatic transmission. An optional 7.3-liter V-8 generates 430 horsepower and delivers 475 pound-feet of torque, and there's also a 6.7-liter turbodiesel V-8 engine with 475 horsepower, and this engine generates 1,050 pound-feet of torque.

When you have a Super Duty truck, you most likely want it for the towing power, which this truck delivers. The F-350 and F-450, when equipped with the tow package, the turbodiesel engine, a fifth wheel, and a gooseneck hitch, can tow up to 37,000 pounds and handle a 7,850-pound payload.

The Super Duty's cabin starts with just the basics in the XL and reaches luxury accommodations in the Limited and Platinum. There's room for up to six in the large cabs, and if you have the XLT or above, it comes with power windows and door locks. The XLT also has cloth upholstery, but just another step up to the Lariat, and you'll get the upgrade to leather upholstery. The Limited adds to this with features such as adaptive steering, power-adjustable pedals, and two-tone leather upholstery.

The big technology news for the 2022 Super Duty is the available 12-inch touch screen and the SYNC 4 infotainment system that now comes standard in the Lariat and above. It has a wireless version of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and conversational voice controls. The XLT still has an 8-inch touch screen, the SYNC 3 system, two USB -C ports, and two 11-volt power outlets.

Every 2022 Super Duty comes with a rearview camera, and the XLT and above all have a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert. All trims except the base XL also come with a pre-collision system with a collision warning and automatic emergency braking. The Lariat adds to all this with a reverse sensing system, while the Platinum comes with an adaptive cruise control system and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Ford also offers the Pro Trailer Backup Assist system and the Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System with trailer reverse guidance, a 180-degree camera, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.
