Guys Playing Sand VolleyballThere’s no better way to enjoy a summer day than spending it outdoors. Even in the city, there are plenty of spots to do so and get away from the busy streets. Whether you want to relax in the sun or play sports, the parks in Redford have you covered.

Get outdoors at any of these great parks in Redford, Michigan:

Bell Creek County Park

Bell Creek County Park has been an oasis in the city since the 1940s. If you want to enjoy the nice summer days without going too far, this park cuts right through Redford Township. It includes two regulation-sized soccer fields, two baseball diamonds, a playground, and more.

Lola Valley Park

If you’re looking for the perfect place for a picnic, check out Lola Valley Park. This is also a popular spot to go sledding in the winter and enjoy the flowers in the spring. If you’ve never played disc golf before, you should try a few rounds at this park’s course. You can also just enjoy the view of Upper River Rouge and take in the sun on beautiful summer days.

Rouge Park

Nearby Rouge Park is one of the top spots in the area for people to go and enjoy the outdoors. Its 1,181 acres of green space holds 12 playgrounds, three swimming pools, courts, sports fields, and more. If you want to spend the day being active outdoors, this is one of the best places to do it. You’ll find great opportunities to bike, run, or walk on the 7 miles of paved pathways. If you want to get closer to nature, walk the Prairie Pathway, which features 15 acres of native prairie and a butterfly garden. There’s always something to do at Rouge Park.

Handy Park

This is another great choice to have some fun outdoors. Handy Park, also known as Capital Park, covers over 18 acres and features a great number of things to do. Let the kids cool off at the splash park, play a game of tennis on one of the lighted four courts, join a softball or baseball league, and more. You’ll also find a shuffleboard court, a skateboard park, sand volleyball courts, playgrounds, horseshoe pits — the list of fun activities available at Handy Park goes on. With so many options at this park, it’s the perfect place for a family of wide interests.

Claude Allison Park

If Handy Park is too busy, try Claude Allison Park. It has many of the same opportunities for activities on its 16.4 acres. The park has great playgrounds with slides and swings for the kids, sand volleyball courts, a track for biking and rollerblading, and more.

Whether you’re looking to get a solo run in or take the whole family out to enjoy the day outside, these parks let you get away from the daily grind for a while. You don’t have to go far to get away — there are plenty of spots right in Redford’s backyard.
