The 2020 Ford Expedition is a luxury, large SUV with a best-in-class towing capacity, plenty of standard features, a roomy interior, and advanced driver-assist technologies. You can choose from four trims with the Expedition: the XLT, Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum. Here’s some more information on what this impressive SUV has to offer.
Spacious and Well-Equipped Cabin
The Ford Expedition sports a large cabin that can comfortably accommodate up to eight passengers when equipped with a second-row bench seat. Though if you order the second-row captain’s chairs, your Expedition will only be able to seat a maximum of seven passengers.
This SUV also provides excellent cargo capacity. Behind the rear seats is a cargo area of 20.9 cubic feet that can be extended to 104.6 cubic feet if you fold all rear seats flat. In addition, the Expedition is available in an extended Max body style, which has a 9-inch-longer wheelbase. You’ll get a maximum cargo area of 121.5 cubic feet with models featuring this body style.
The base trim is well equipped with standard features like push-button start, cruise control, a rotary gear shift dial, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cloth upholstery, and a power-adjustable driver seat. Higher trims add several luxuries, including tri-zone automatic climate control, memory features, ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, power-folding third-row seats, leather upholstery, heated seats, and multi-contour seats with active motion.
Impressive Performance
All 2020 Ford Expedition trims arrive on the market with a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 engine that’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission to produce 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. With the Platinum trim comes a slightly more energetic version of the same engine, which generates 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive available on all trims.
The EcoBoost V-6, together with the available Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow package, will provide you with a top-rated maximum tow rating of 9,300 pounds. What’s more, the Expedition offers many conveniences that make for an easier and safer towing experience. Pro Trailer Backup Assist, for instance, will allow you to effortlessly back up with a trailer by simply turning a knob, while an available integrated trailer brake controller delivers improved performance by synchronizing the vehicle with trailer brakes.
Modern Technology
The standard SYNC 3 infotainment system is easy to use and equipped with features like a Wi-Fi hot spot, voice recognition, SiriusXM, USB ports, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. You can also opt for available upgrades like a wireless charging hub, HD Radio, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.
Apart from keeping you connected and entertained, the 2020 Expedition will also keep you safe on the road. All trims come standard with the Ford Co-Pilot 360 suite, which offers various levels of advanced driver-assist systems, depending on the trim. Standard features in the suite include pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, a reverse sensing system, and a rearview camera. Higher trims add blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, auto high-beam headlamps, a lane-keeping system, a forward sensing system, adaptive cruise control, and enhanced active park assist.
