Redford is an area of the Detroit and Dearborn metro areas in Michigan. This township offers easy access to some of the top attractions in the area. Check out these fun things to see and do during the upcoming fall season.

The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation

It’s hard to imagine a world without automobiles. Henry Ford was a pioneer in this industry, sponsoring the development of the assembly line technique that allowed for mass production of automobiles. He also founded the Ford Motor Company and developed the first automobile that the average middle-class American could afford. The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation is a fascinating place to learn more about Ford and his impact on the transportation industry.

In addition to exhibits focused on Ford, you can view exhibits dedicated to other American innovators. The museum houses a replica of the bus where Rosa Parks took a stand by sitting down in a seat designated for a white rider, and there’s a circular Dymaxion house from Buckminster Fuller. Learn more about the Wright brothers’ achievements in flight as you play pilot for the day. You’ll come face-to-face with the inventions that have inspired, engaged, and informed American citizens over the past centuries. The museum is open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Redford Theatre

Another popular attraction in the area is the Redford Theatre, which is a historic venue that has been part of the township since it opened in 1928. At that time, it was the neighborhood movie house and was one of the most unique playhouses in a suburban area. As you walk through the main doors, you’ll see the three-story grand foyer and full-size stage, taking you back to a time when a night at the theater was the ultimate outing.

The Redford Theatre is celebrating its 90-year anniversary this year, showcasing a variety of appealing shows and films. These include “The Princess Bride Shadowcast,” “Rosemary’s Baby,” The Redford Classic Cartoon Festival, “Home Alone,” the Second Annual Holiday Mystery Movie, and “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

Greenfield Village

The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation is located in Greenfield Village, which is the perfect place to explore and spend a few hours. It houses seven historic districts across 80 acres, showcasing more than 300 years of American perseverance. Stroll through four working farms and learn more about what historic farming methods and foodways can teach us about food production today. Rides are available for people of all ages, including a ride in a working Model T or a horse-drawn carriage.

Kids will love the Greenfield Village playground and the hand-carved animals on the Hershell-Spillman Carousel dating back to 1913. Other attractions include a number of restaurants serving tasty fare, places to shop for timeless goods and gifts, and architectural marvels that will take you back in time.

With so much to experience in and around Redford, it’s worth spending some time this fall exploring these attractions. Check out these top attractions and enjoy the fascinating atmosphere of this area.
