2019 Ford RangerPickup lovers have been missing the Ford Ranger since 2011. Thankfully, Ford is bringing it back with a new design and great features. It holds on to its roots as a steel-bodied, good, old-fashioned pickup truck, but with several updates that are bound to excite. Here are some features of the new 2019 Ford Ranger you can look forward to.

Unique Powertrain

The 2019 Ford Ranger keeps it simple by only offering one engine in all of the Ranger trims. A 2.3-liter, inline, four-cylinder engine with Eco Boost and a 10-speed automatic transmission is built to put out 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. With a forged crankshaft, connecting road, and double-roller timing chain, this engine is made for life inside a pickup. You’ll be able to carry your favorite over-sized toys with its 7,500-pound towing capacity and 1,860-pound maximum payload.

Strong Exterior

As previously mentioned, the 2019 Ranger features a steel frame with mounted steel bumpers in the front and back, but the hood and tailgate are aluminum. A redesigned front fascia displays the Ranger name for all to see with updated lighting as well. Enjoy available LED headlights and fog lights depending on the trim you choose.

Up-to-Date Safety

Even though the Ranger has been out of the line-up for a few years, its safety features are keeping up. Available active safety features include adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with assistance, and forward collision warning.

The updated cruise control system detects the distance between you and the vehicle in front of you and maintains a safe following distance by automatically adjusting your speed. Lane-departure warning can tell when the Ranger in drifting out of its lane without a turn signal and send an alert to the driver. If the driver doesn’t respond in time, the system can correct the drift to keep you in your lane.

A new pre-collision assistance system will keep an eye out for potential collisions in front of the Ranger, including pedestrians. If the driver doesn’t respond right away to the alert, the system will get the brakes ready for last-minute use. This system can also apply the emergency brakes in case the driver doesn’t respond to the collision warning at all.

Off-Road Capability

For serious adventure capabilities, add the FX2 or FX4 off-road package on to your 2019 Ford Ranger. The FX2 comes with two-wheel drive while the FX4 is four-wheel drive. Both of these packages include electronic locking rear differentials, all-terrain tires, off-road dampers, steel skid plates, and a steel front bash plate. All of the 2019 Rangers have the ground clearance they need, because Ford designed the Ranger to be a “high rider.”

Choose the FX4 option and you’ll also get a terrain management system that offers four different driving modes. Whether you want to take on grass, gravel, snow, mud, or sand, or just enjoy a nice ride to work in the morning, the Ranger is ready for it all. Throttle responsiveness, traction control, and stability control are all adjusted for ideal handling for each type of terrain.
