Redford, MI is a fantastic township that is located just to the west of Detroit, MI – the biggest city in the state. We think it is one great place to live for a whole host of reasons and we’re proud to share our little piece of the Wolverine State with you.
1. Lots for Kids to Do at Handy Park
Our town is an amazing place for the youngsters in your life to stay active. We love a family visit to the Summer Splash Pad in Handy Park. All of the water features are car-themed and there are plenty of shaded tables for you to take a break when needed. This is not the only fun you can have at this park, as there is also a children’s play area and plenty of sports facilities such as a Little League Field, volleyball and tennis courts and a skate park.
2. Redford Township Festivals
Every year there is a program of amazing events to enjoy in Redford. The Summer Festival and Fireworks are a firm favorite with people of all generations, but there are other celebrations such as Oktoberfest in the autumn and the Olde Fashioned Holidays in early December. These events are all full of fantastic entertainments such as horse-drawn carriage rides and the lighting of the Township Christmas Tree at the Olde Fashioned Holidays.
3. Global Connections
Redford is a sister city to two different European cities. They are Gau-Algesheim in Germany and St Johann in Austria. We have strong friendships with these German-speaking communities and enjoy learning about their way of life.
4. Eat Like a King
We are lucky to enjoy some of the most delicious food imaginable in our town. In particular, we adore the amazing American menu at Murphy’s Restaurant. It is such a friendly place and the food is absolutely legendary amongst local residents. You cannot beat their breakfasts – try the handmade corned beef hash, served with eggs and toast. The perfect start to your day.
5. The Perfect Location
A lot of people relocate to Redford because it is so conveniently located. Living so centrally cuts down on travel time and lets you spend more time on the things that really matter!
6. Market at the Marquee
Food lovers will fall in love with our farmers’ market. Every week you can find gorgeous fresh produce, beautiful plants and flowers as well as delicious food made by Michigan bakers and chefs. It is a real feast for the senses to walk around. You won’t be able to resist picking up a few treats to take home.
Redford is a great place to live as it is a friendly community with plenty to do, whatever your age.
