With more freshwater access than any other state, Michigan boasts a great diversity of fish species that are available for year-round fishing. Maybury State Park
Located in nearby Northville, Maybury State Park is nestled among 1,000 acres of gentle hills, an open meadow, forest, wildflowers, and wildlife. Maybury’s 8-acre pond allows for shoreline fishing and is a great spot for children to learn the sport or for experienced fishing pros to try their hand at a fresh catch. At Maybury State Park, intrepid anglers can fish from shore for carp, large and smallmouth bass, sunfish, and yellow perch.
Kensington Metropark
One of the most popular parks in Michigan, Kensington Metropark in nearby Milford, Michigan, is home to a wide array of wildlife and waterfowl amid its nearly 5,000 acres of hills and woodlands. The 1,200-acre Kent Lake offers a wonderful spot to swim, boat, and, of course, fish year-round. Huroc Park
Huroc Park is a bit of a hidden gem, known to locals for its lush green surroundings and short, walkable paths. Once you have had your fill of fishing for the day, take a quick side trip to downtown Flat Rock for a snack or delicious ice cream.
@Dodge #4 State Park
With nearly a mile of shoreline, the Dodge #4 State Park offers a wonderful spot for outdoor recreation all year long. In warmer months, a white sandy beach is a great respite from the summer heat. Fishing is a popular way to pass time all year long, as Dodge #4 is a well-known spot for catching largemouth and smallmouth bass, perch, and pike. The park recently installed a universally accessible pier to make fishing fun accessible to everyone.
Bald Mountain Recreation Area
One of the more rugged recreational areas, Bald Mountain is known in the region for its steep hills and plentiful hiking and recreational activities. Trout Creek and Paint Creek offer ample opportunity to catch trout, and Graham Lake is popular with anglers seeking panfish, northern pike, and largemouth bass.
