  1. Frankenmuth

About an hour and a half north lies Frankenmuth, a Bavarian-style town that’s a must-see. This town is a hot spot during the Christmas season, but it’s also a great place to enjoy quaint German architecture and great food. Stop by the brewery for a lager, shop the fantastic shops in River Place, and have an all-you-can-eat chicken dinner. If you’re an outdoors person, you can rent a paddleboard and kayak and take to the Cass River, or you can take on the 18-hole disc golf course. The great activities you’ll find at Frankenmuth ensure you’ll get a full day of fun, making this town worth the drive.

  1. Belle Isle Park

If you don’t have a lot of time but still need to get away, head over to Belle Isle Park. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Redford and offers great opportunities to enjoy the day outdoors. Its 987 acres are home to the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, the Belle Isle Nature Zoo, an aquarium, sports facilities, and more. If you want to get closer to nature, you’ll also find 150 acres of woods where you can hike and explore. You don’t need the whole day to get away, thanks to Belle Isle Park.

White sandy beaches are closer to Redford than you think. Visit Saugatuck to spend the day at one of the top-rated beaches in the country and enjoy everything that makes this town a sought-after destination. It’s about three hours away but well worth the drive. Whether you’re into the outdoors, arts and culture, fantastic food, or shopping, there’s something for everyone at Saugatuck. The 10 miles of shoreline will let you relax the day away, and the city will let you make your outing as exciting as you want.

  1. Lone Wolf Paintball

If you’re looking for something a little more intense, try Lone Wolf Paintball. It’s around 30 minutes away and is one of the best paintball spots in the state. Since 1987, Lone Wolf has been a haven for Michigan paintball fans, veterans, and greenhorns alike. Show up for open play on their outdoor or indoor fields to get matched with other players, or book a private match for just you and your friends.
