Transit ConnectThe Ford Transit Connect is a versatile van that’s easy to drive. Its size makes it easy to maneuver in small spaces, but when equipped as a passenger van, it has room for the entire extended family. The 2020 Transit Connect makes the Co-Pilot360 suite standard on the Titanium Passenger Wagon, and an option for the other trims. Also, new for 2020, automatic headlights with configurable running lights now come standard on every trim. In addition to these updates, take a look at why the 2020 Ford Transit Connect is perfect for families.

The Cabin

The Transit Connect Passenger Wagon has seating for up to seven. The cabin feels a lot like a crossover SUV with a third row that can fold down, flip up, or come out entirely if you need the extra cargo space. Choosing the high-end Titanium will get you captain’s chairs for the second row, which means this trim drops the seating capacity down to six. The midlevel XLT trim comes with cloth upholstery, or you can bump up to the Titanium for leather, which also adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel and comes with heated front seats. The Wagon has 16.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind all the seats.

The Technology

The entry-level XL comes with a 4.2-inch display screen, an auxiliary input, and a four-speaker stereo system. Just a step up to the XLT gets you the SYNC 3 infotainment system, a 6.5-inch touch screen, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless charging. The Titanium upgrades the infotainment system with integrated navigation, and you can also add HD radio.

The Power and Performance

A 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine with 150 horsepower and 144 pound-feet of torque powers the Transit Connect. It works with Ford’s eight-speed automatic transmission and comes with front-wheel drive. This engine provides the van with plenty of power for driving around town and for long trips on the highway. When equipped, the Transit Connect can even tow up to 2,000 pounds, which is plenty for a small camper or boat.

Safety Features

A family vehicle should have plenty of safety equipment, and the Transit Connect comes standard with an extensive list of active and passive safety systems with even more available as options. Every trim has a rearview camera, and the Titanium Wagon now comes standard with the Co-Pilot360 suite of advanced driver aids. This suite bundles together a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and automatic high beam headlights. It also includes a pre-collision system with automatic emergency braking.

Additional safety system such as reverse and forward sensing systems will alert the driver if an object is behind them or in front of them when the vehicle is in Drive mode, and you can also get the enhanced active park assist feature that will take over the parking whether it’s a parallel or perpendicular spot.

The 2020 Ford Transit Connect Passenger Wagon has the features that families want in the cabin, safety technology to keep everyone safe, and a comfortable and spacious cabin.
