When the leaves change from green to colorful golds and reds, that means it’s time for fun fall events near Redford, Michigan. Whether you’re looking for a chance to sample a variety of local beers, live out your cosplay dreams, or celebrate the holidays, these are the upcoming events near Redford you don’t want to miss.

Detroit Fall Beer Festival

Grab a cold one and make a toast to Fall at the Detroit Fall Beer Festival. Holding at Eastern Market in Detroit on October 25 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and October 26 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., the event is one of the largest beer tastings around featuring all-Michigan beer. Select from more than 800 craft beers and grab some food provided by local Detroit restaurants. Have a seat and listen to live musical performances.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate. Event-goers use tokens and specially marked cups to participate in samples and tastings. A ticket grants you 15 tokens, with each token being exchangeable for a 3-ounce beer sample. Extra tokens can be purchased for 50 cents each.

Youmacon

Youmacon is an anime convention that celebrates Japanese pop culture and its influence over the past few decades. Held October 31 through November 3 at the TCF Center and Renaissance Center, the event draws in people of all ages to take part in interactive activities, watch live musical performances, and listen to celebrity guest panels. Don your favorite cosplay character’s attire and attend the “Live Action Mario Party,” which offers a video game experience where participants play game show mini games for the big win.

One-day and three-day badges are available, but for all-access opt for the Platinum Badge, which includes priority positioning in autograph lines and main events, a Youmacon t-shirt, special admittances to tournaments, and early access to the Dealers’ Room.

Youmacon is located at Renaissance Center, 400 Renaissance Drive West in Detroit. Register online or purchase one-day tickets at the door.
