The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation
It’s hard to imagine a world without automobiles. Henry Ford was a pioneer in this industry, sponsoring the development of the assembly line technique that allowed for mass production of automobiles. He also founded the Ford Motor Company and developed the first automobile that the average middle-class American could afford. The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation is a fascinating place to learn more about Ford and his impact on the transportation industry.
In addition to exhibits focused on Ford, you can view exhibits dedicated to other American innovators. The museum houses a replica of the bus where Rosa Parks took a stand by sitting down in a seat designated for a white rider, and there’s a circular Dymaxion house from Buckminster Fuller. Learn more about the Wright brothers’ achievements in flight as you play pilot for the day. You’ll come face-to-face with the inventions that have inspired, engaged, and informed American citizens over the past centuries. The museum is open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
3 Family-Friendly Features on the New Ford Explorer
The new Ford Explorer has plenty of features the whole family will love. From having more than enough room to taking advantage of all the safety features, here are three highlights you’ll want to check out.
-
Plenty of Room
The 2019 Ford Explorer has plenty of room for the whole family. With three rows of seating, you can fit the whole family or easily transport your kids, and all their teammates, to soccer practice. The third-row seats fold down so you can store cargo, whether you’re hauling it across town or across the country. This will provide you with a total storage space of 43.9 cubic feet. When both the second and third rows are folded, you’ll have a total cargo space of 81.7 cubic feet.
When you have all the seats in their upright position, up to seven people can fit in the Ford Explorer in addition to having 21 cubic feet of extra cargo space. You’ll also have storage space under the floor if you have smaller items you need to store.
If you have a mix of passengers and cargo, you can take advantage of the 50/50 split-folding seat that goes flat with just the touch of a button. There are also roof rack side rails that are available if you need even more space, such as going away for the weekend for a family ski vacation.
